Overstock is the open secret of this industry. On average 20–30% of what gets made is eventually sold below cost or destroyed.
What we do differently
Since 2023 we cut the first run to about 40% of forecast and repeat on demand. The cost is that popular styles go out of stock for a few weeks. The benefit is that we end the season with almost nothing to clear.
This season
| Metric | Autumn 2025 | Autumn 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| SKUs | 142 | 118 |
| First run as % of forecast | 46% | 39% |
| Average repeat runs | 1.8 | 2.4 |
| Stock left at season end | 11% | 7% |
| Sold below cost | 6.2% | 3.1% |
The trade-off
Out-of-stock complaints rose 34% year on year. That is a cost we chose to take, but we understand it is a real inconvenience for you. From this season every sold-out product has a back-in-stock alert, and restocks notify that list first.
